To Hannah He Gave A Double Portion

Portion for Reading 1 Sam 1-3
Passage: 1 Samuel 1: 1-5
When looking at this passage and how we can apply it our daily lives, onewill come to realize that we too are just like Hannah. There are numerousinstances in our life where we may petition a certain request to God andnot receive a direct answer. In fact in many of those occurrences God maynot answer us for a long time. Hannah wanted a child so dearly but the LORD had closed her womb.

This was not because God did not care or love Hannah but it was because God wanted to work according to his time. We too may sometimesthink the reason God never answers our requests immediately is because weare not worthy in his sight. That is a false misconception. God works inhis time and his time alone. What we need to realize is that even if wedon’t receive an answer from God directly we will still become conscious ofhis presence.

Hannah did not receive an answer from God but she received aworthy portion from her husband. Elkanah was not the only person who lovedher but God also dearly loved her. Even in Hannah’s darkest night’s she saw God’s light shine in her life. This is why she never gave up and continuedto cry and weep in the presence of God.

My friend you may be discouraged when you see that your prayer requests are not answered. There is no reason to be dismayed because God’s presence will help and guide you. Hannah asked for a child and she waited patiently and God repaid her by giving a son who would be one of the greatest prophets in the history of Israel. If God did this much for Hannah our God is sufficient and gracious enough to fulfill our personal requests. There is nothing too small or too big to ask to God.

For God made a way for Hannah and he can surely make a way for you.God bless you!
