Watch Worship And Serve

Portion For Reading Neh 7-9
Msg Neh 7:1
So we have seen Nehemiah over came the opposition with one accord strengthening the people and arming them to face any enemy. In chapter seven we see that Nehemiah has accomplished his task of building the wall. Nehemiah assigned the people to the gate. If the task was only to build the wall then the question comes is why gate keeper and singer and levites were assigned?? Now these three categories of people are appointed after the assigned task is completed that is rebuilding the wall.. so in the assigned task was not rebuilding the wall but also assigning the right people was a part of it so in our lives onces broken walls must be rebuilt. It could be of faith or trust.
· Gate keeper job is to keep a watch
· Singers is to sing praises to the lord
· Levites offering the sacrifices to the Lord and priest hood work
Gatekeepers: Who is a Gatekeeper? A gate·keep·er is the One that is in charge of passage through a gate. One who monitors or oversees the actions of others. A primary-care provider, often in the setting of a managed-care organization, who coordinates patient care and provides referrals to specialists, hospitals, laboratories, and other medical services.

A gatekeeper's job is to watch over the gates and the city.

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he blows the alarm to warn the people. - Ezekiel 33:3. But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn't sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their deaths. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman accountable. - Ezekiel 33:6

When the preachers in the pulpit warns of the dangers and alert us, we need to be alert and Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. And do not forget to blow the trumpet for others who are sleeping, as God says in Ezekiel "Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me. - Ezekiel 33:7
Singers: Who are the Singers? The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the LORD with these words: "He is so good! His faithful love endures forever!" At that moment a cloud filled the Temple of the LORD. - 2 Chronicles 5:13.The singers were brought together from Jerusalem and its surrounding villages and from the villages of the Netophathites. - Nehemiah 12:28

They also came from Beth-gilgal and the area of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built their own villages around Jerusalem. - Neh 12:29 and the singers--Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malkijah, Elam, and Ezer. They played and sang loudly and clearly under the direction of Jezrahiah the choir director. - Neh12:42. They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as required by the laws of David and his son Solomon, and so did the singers and the gatekeepers. - Nehemiah 12:45

The victory is mine when the battle belongs to the lord, Hosanna Hosanna.... Songs of victory and shout bring great joy and strength to the heart and the body. You are also assigned to sing with praise and shout and the bless the lord for the victory, and the mighty things that he does in his time and in his own ways.

Levites: Who are the Levites? They are the Descendants of Levi. The work of ministering in the sanctuary was assigned to this tribe. The Levites are sometimes spoken of as distinct from the priests (1 Kgs. 8: 4; Ezra 2: 70; John 1: 19); sometimes as though all Levites were also priests, “the priests, the Levites” (Deut. 18: 1; Josh. 3: 3). The work of the Levites was to assist the priests (Num. 3: 5-10; Num. 18: 1-7). They acted as musicians (1 Chr. 6: 16, 31; 1 Chr. 15: 16; Neh. 11: 17, 22); slaughtered the sacrifices (2 Chr. 29: 34; 2 Chr. 35: 11; Ezra 6: 20); and generally assisted in the temple (Neh. 11: 16, 19).

After the wall was finished and I had hung the doors in the gates, the gatekeepers, singers, and Levites were appointed. - Neh 7:1 "These are the Levites who returned from exile: The families of Jeshua and Kadmiel (descendants of Hodaviah*) 746 - Neh 7:43 "So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Temple servants, along with some of the people--that is to say, all Israel--settled in their own towns." Now in midautumn, when the Israelites had settled in their towns,5 - Neh 7:73

Same way God has called us to be pecuilar 1 pet 2:9-10 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
